Bryan Campos-Reflection
Group 1 - Focuses on Chapter’s 1,2,3, and 5 The main focus of these chapters was #1 Catering to the audience , for setting friendly tones and how you should prepare for audiences and any misshapes that might happen the importance of public speaking and its benefits #2confidence and how to express the topic and presentation fluently without getting flustered #3 The importance of listening and being attentive for your audience is your main focus even in presentation you have to be able to aid you’re audience.#4 and lastly breaks down what is the audience and how you can build credibility for the specific audience in which the speech is being delivered to. You can also interact with said audience by developing questionnaires and using research Basically the first group presented on the importance of speech and their objectives and how to flourish on your presentation. Overall, I believe this group did a good job some misshapes happened early on but the group stayed organized and performed well. They had the least amount of time to organize and group up but did pretty well for what they came up with everyone struggles to seem confident although they did mess up they didn’t give up and pushed forward for a first time speech they can learn to adapt to audience preferences and how to vocalize their emotions and viewpoints thoroughly next time. Mistakes happen and adjustments are needed they did good 3.5 out of 5 In my honest opinion.
Group 2 – By far the most organized speech and PowerPoint put together out did my group but altogether wasn’t perfect, no one’s speech or presentation was perfect but that’s the important part to take from it and learn from these things as there is always room for improvement. Group #2 focuses on chapter 4,6,7 and 8 The main points from these chapters are #1 Developing a purpose and topic, that understanding that you need to provide your audience general information that your feeding into the audience is crucial. The preparation. Diversifying your speech bringing creativity and fluidity to it adds another level to your presentation and it shows. #2 Is researching your topic, how its important to find a credible source to feed your audience is a no brainer they are of the upmost significance and deserve the upmost respect at least you can’t lie to them. #3 the introducing to important ideas is also very crucial they are essential in leading on with the presentation and providing key ideas to intrigue the audience. overall the organization of said group presentation was great but too many bullet points and too many slides kind of let the audience behind lacked enough to convey the audience properly some dozed off or got right back on their phone I believe if they shortened the overall speech it would’ve come off cleaner and better attached to the audience nonetheless it’s a great way to take this constructive criticism and learn from this 4 out of 5.
Group 4- This group covers the chapters 13,14,15,16 and 17 #1 the first major idea is informative speaking and how it increases the awareness and effectiveness of the speech given, how different types of information is processed and which ones do audiences tend to prefer how your audience learns or makes mental notes of #2 is about Persuasive speaking, how a certain change of tone or demeaner can make a huge change in the way the audience cater to your speech how there’s different types of persuasion to each audience type and criteria needed to achieve these types of persuasion #3 is the topic of understanding arguments and how this matters to effectively persuade the audience how inductive reasoning and having to draw conclusion for those persuaded .#4 breaks down the distance speaking and use of media appearances how online appearances and how to break down social barriers through a screen and open potential for media users, how to become a media spokesperson and its essentials. #5 Special occasion speeches and group presentation how to break down having to open your speech acceptance and other important speech types for occasions not just for audiences in the classroom basically using the knowledge in the real world. This group had great points a good organization of the PowerPoint but lacked the vocal edge a lot of these members were reading from their slides for the entire duration of the speech presented I believe they could’ve put more of a group effort to add spice and their own words than read off the board still much more room for improvement. 2 out of 5
Group 3 Ours – Covering the chapters 9,10,11 and 12 the #1 covers the importance of beginning and ending your speech the attention getter, the purpose and establishing credibility while also previewing your main points. #2 covers the imagery of language how to use our language with a complimentary notation of an image to enhance the audiences understanding of said topic, how our culture in language means the upmost importance and can be used in speeches spoken vs written language and its differences. #3 covers the Integration of media In speeches to attract and capture the minds of your audience is one thing but If you can gain help from images or media outlets in your slides why not it’s another way to catch their attention and poke their inanition and attentiveness and #4 the speech delivery and how important it is to sound off and be aware of the topic and delivery in which your feeding to your audience more specifically what are you doing and saying while giving your speech is your tone enough to catch the attention of the audience or is the audience even paying attention. Overall I believe we as a group were organized punctual and too the point direct and caught the attention of audience members as frequent as possible we did our best for the first go round I think we stood out from the rest and delivered 4.5 out of 5 could improve as no presentation was perfect but we could improve
Excellent reflection. Wow another group was better than you? Just kidding.
