Group Project 2

 Group 1

Group 1 discusses why Elections matter in Democracy. They discuss the electorate process, voting districts in the U.S., swing states, the importance of voting, voting methods, and their pros and cons. They start with a strong introduction question, “What is the electoral process?” they answer by saying it's a process in which electors or representatives from each state, in numbers proportional to the state’s population, cast their vote and determine who will be president. Following these, they show us a map of the U.S. showing us how each state has a set number of electors.

They also go through the history of voting and how not everyone was equal this meaning that back then only white men could vote, and how little by little more people got their rights like blacks and women, the most recent law passed was in 1971 which lowered the age of voting to 18 since back then you could join the military at 18 and not vote. Moving forward on their PowerPoint they go over the different voting Methods, the most basic of them is just straight-up voting on election day which I should have done I voted earlier. Another way is voting by mail this is recent news due to COVID at the time. Next up are the Pros and cons one of the cons is that some states have way and I mean way more electors for example California has the most with 54 and Hawaii has only 3, now many of you may think that their votes won't matter but that's not true every vote matters in this sense, they show us a map as well for blue and red states and most red states have low elector count. They also go over swing states that are in the middle not red or blue and can switch up at a drop of a dime. Overall Group 1 did amazing in educating us about what we’re in for, and how the system works.

Group 2

Group 2 goes over Immigration Policies, specifically both sides Trump’s and Harris's policies they show us how Harris would advocate for the bipartisan border bill that would increase resources and change policies to close loopholes that are being exploited by criminal cartels, require any administration, to close the border when the system becomes overwhelmed, and make more reforms towards humane treatment of migrants, And Trumps being finishing the wall and mass deportation these will cost us millions. Moving on they go over Public Safety which is crimes committed by immigrants both sides show their views Trump shows that migrants are violent criminals, which is not true, and Harris views that she wants to make sure immigrants get the citizenship they want to get legal way and not illegal coming here. One big thing they go over is Family unity which is not separating Parents from their kids, many kids get separated from their parents when migrating in fact many parents send their kids over here to their family while they stay in their home country. This group showed us a great presentation showing us that the country runs off immigration and its pros and cons, one pro being Diversity and inclusion, to this day America is one if not the most open countries in the world, and one Con is a lack of border policy and increasing illegal immigration. Overall this group did amazing in informing us on what our immigration stats are right now and what policies want to be passed by Harris and Trump I’d give them an 8.5/10.

Group 3

Although this project was put together at the last minute, my group did an outstanding job of working out how elections affect and then change policies in education. My part dealt with the problem of safety at school as an extremely important point in this field. I performed a comparative analysis of recent years concerning changes that had taken place in schools regarding safety measures. Whereas there has been an uptick in security presence, that does not parallel substantial legislative adjustment to address the underlying issues at hand, especially with the growing alarm of school shootings. What I am trying to stress here is that even when such disasters are coming forth now and then, little or no area of progress has been successfully made to pass laws for protection regarding schools or putting restrictions on access to guns to avoid such incidents. Second, our presentation focused on various limitations imposed on students within schools; such policies constrain and bind the students' rights and freedoms. We took a glimpse at how book bans, for example, affect the information and literature that students can access. We talked of how some of the rights just seem to fade into thin air once a student sets foot on school property, such as how personal expression itself is put under stride in certain schools by even making students wear uniforms to school. In this paper, the group tried to outline how educational policies shaped through election outcomes hit right at the students' everyday lives by covering such topics. This helps in underlining the gravity of voting and its advocacy in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive education for all types of students.i believe we did a great job in showcasing that.

Group 4

Presentation Group 4 discusses the most current issues on gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights, from historical times to the present. They start with the major challenges to be discussed and interview various people for a range of opinions on LGBTQ+ rights. When discussing the history of LGBTQ+ rights, they talk about protests done for gay rights and for marriage equality, mentioning such years as 1970, 1981, and 1983, when activists fought for basic freedoms. It also connects these with the results of elections, showing how LGBTQ+ issues influence voting and political standing. They introduce a world map to show where countries legally support LGBTQ+ rights and where challenges remain, giving a broader perspective on how these issues differ worldwide. Also, they discuss the pro-life and pro-choice debate by showing different sentiments on the issue of abortion, and different countries' approaches to the issue of abortion. Using another map, they show where abortion is legal, restricted, or prohibited, enhancing the different legal landscapes. The presentation encompasses the historical context of abortions to explain how the practice of abortions has been in existence for centuries back, even their ancient methods include plants to achieve abortions. The most touching part of their presentation is the battle that young girls go through in the case of sexual assault and the few options they have afterward. They talk about a pay gap between genders; usually, men get paid more than women while doing the same job, explaining this as another sort of inequality. Overall, Group 4 did well in pointing out key elements of gender and LGBTQ+ rights and had great knowledge of how these issues affect society and people's lives.
