Group 1-
This groups powerpoint talks about elections and how they are a fundamental part of democracy, with the Electoral College serving as the process to elect the President and Vice President of the United States. Each state has a set number of electors based on its population, with a total of 538 electors across the country. While most states follow a "winner-takes-all" system, Nebraska and Maine use the Congressional District Method, where electors are allocated based on district votes. Amendments such as the 15th, 19th, and 26th have expanded voting rights, ensuring that people of all races, genders, and ages over 18 can participate in elections.
Voting methods in the U.S. include in-person voting on Election Day, early voting, and absentee voting by mail. These options allow greater accessibility, but also come with pros and cons. For instance, the Electoral College system can encourage candidates to build broad coalitions and protect smaller states, but it may also lead to disproportionate influence and the possibility of a candidate winning the election without securing the popular vote. Swing states, which often shift between political parties, play a pivotal role in determining the outcome of elections, making every vote crucial to shaping the nation’s policies and leadership.

I think their presentation was visibly really organized and had lots of pictures but I think a lot of the people in the groups didn't know they're information correctly. Other than that i learned a lot in their presentation.
Group 2-
Group 2 informed us on the U.S. immigration policies, particularly comparing the stances of different political figures like Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. It includes a range of topics from border security to family reunification and the impact of immigration on society, as well as the challenges immigrants face in the U.S. political system. There are also insights into the humanitarian aspects of immigration, public opinion trends, and the role of voting eligibility for immigrants

I loved their presentation visuals they had a lot of pictures and kept their wording on each slide to a minimum. They all looked like they knew what they were talking about.

This was our presentation and we covered a range of important topics related to education, focusing on school safety, funding, teacher salaries, student rights, and school uniforms. We discussed the need for improved school security through better background checks and mental health support to prevent violence, especially school shootings. we also highlighted the increasing issue of bullying, offering solutions such as anti-bullying policies, education, and promoting positive behavior. The presentation also examined how school funding impacts the resources available to schools, emphasizing disparities in funding across the U.S. and internationally. Additionally, we delved into the pros and cons of school uniforms, noting both the benefits of reducing bullying and fostering unity, and the limitations regarding personal expression and financial costs.
we made it clear that elections matter in shaping educational policy, from funding to school safety. We learned how school environments can be improved through better resource allocation, mental health initiatives, and policies that protect students' rights and foster inclusion. We also underscored the importance of recognizing students' constitutional rights in schools, while acknowledging the need to address outdated educational systems that may not effectively prepare students for the challenges of the modern world.

In my opinion, we did really good we all knew out stuff. Our presentation was also visually appealing because we added pictures and we also didn't write a lot on our slides.

This presentation covered a wide range of gender equality issues, focusing on LGBTQ rights, pro-life vs. pro-choice debates, pay gaps, childcare subsidies, and gender-based violence. The group explored key questions related to LGBTQ acceptance, including the need for increased open-mindedness and societal change. They also delved into the contentious pro-life vs. pro-choice debate, highlighting the moral and legal aspects surrounding abortion, and discussed how such issues influence elections. Additionally, they covered the pay gap between men and women, noting that despite progress, women still earn less than men due to factors like caregiving responsibilities and workplace discrimination. The presentation also touched on the importance of childcare subsidies in supporting working parents and reducing gender disparities in the workforce, as well as the ongoing issue of gender-based violence and its global impact.
From this presentation, I learned the significant ways in which gender inequality impacts both individuals and society. Key takeaways include how LGBTQ rights and abortion access can shape political agendas and influence elections, and how pay gaps continue to persist despite efforts for equality. The presentation also highlighted the vital role of childcare subsidies in promoting gender equality by allowing more women to join the workforce, and how gender-based violence remains a widespread human rights issue that needs more global attention and action. Overall, it emphasized the need for societal change and better policies to support gender equality in various aspects of life.
